Goat fence
As a goat, you’re irritated about having a fence around you all the time. As a farmer, you’re irritated about having irritated goats because irritated goats have an irritating habit of destroying the fences that irritate them. This has been the case for thousands of years - until an engineer/farmer in Batnfjordsøra decided to build Nofence, the world’s first virtual fence for goats.

Nofence is nothing short of a major innovation in its category that has an impact on everything from animal welfare to the cultural landscape and we were impressed by the multidisciplinary processes initiated by Oscar Hovde Berntsen, the entrepreneur behind Nofence. He used design thinking to arrive at a system and a product that essentially creates its own category.
In the opinion of the panel, making fencing virtual using GPS technology is ingenious and we can clearly see the potential of this technology to change how we manage our meadows and pastures and combat the overgrowth of our cultural landscape. We can also see how Nofence can be developed further for use in other areas. How about renting out goats to power companies that use huge amounts of resources to clear trees under powerlines or get your own goat instead of a robot lawn mower?
The panel would like to congratulate Nofence on an exceptionally exciting and innovative solution to an ancient problem.
