Design and Architecture Norway

This is Reprogramming the City

Reprogramming the City is the manifestation of Burnham’s belief that the cities of the world have tremendous untapped potential.

Creative approach

The approach is experimental and creative. For example, it is possible for a lamppost to open up like an umbrella when it starts to rain? Or can a fire hydrant double as a drinking fountain?

Reprogramming in Oslo and Bergen

Scott Burnham and Reprogramming the City are now coming to Norway. Together with DOGA, he will use the concept to carry out projects in Oslo and Bergen. The results will be displayed in an exhibition at DOGA in the summer of 2018.

The exhibition is being developed in close collaboration with Scott Burnham and will include examples of Norwegian and Nordic projects in which existing infrastructure has been used in new ways and, consequently, contributed to a smarter and more sustainable city.

Projects in Europe and the U.S.

Scott Burnham has carried out projects in a number of cities in countries like Italy, the U.S., Spain, Poland, Sweden and Denmark. Each project is adapted to the host city, but the ideas developed serve as inspiration for new projects in other places. The best ideas are presented in exhibitions around the world, such as the Danish Architecture Centre in Copenhagen and ArkDes in Stockholm.
