Design and Architecture Norway

Architecture Go Global

Ten million crowns will help these seven companies gain a foothold abroad. The programme is part of government efforts to strengthen the cultural and creative industries and is a collaboration between the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Innovation Norway and Design and Architecture Norway (DOGA).

“The seven companies have well thought-out and realistic ambitions and budgets that make it possible to step out into the global market and contribute to increased value creation here at home,” says Margit Klingen Daams, who is responsible for the creative industry at Innovation Norway.

The programme is intended as support for companies interested in international expansion, but that are not yet well established internationally.

“Norwegian architecture is unique, sought-after and innovative. Norwegian architects are known for using sustainable materials and incorporating both social and aesthetic aspects. This programme makes it possible to draw greater attention to Norwegian architecture,” says Tor Inge Hjemdal, Director of Architecture at DOGA.

Capital and competence

‘Architecture: Stepping Out into the World’ was launched in August and will provide the chosen architectural firms with the necessary capital and competence to carry out projects internationally and in this way strengthen and further develop the company. The programme also offers an arena for enhancing the competence of the participating companies, as well as joint measures for the industry.

A total of 13 architectural firms applied to participate in the one-year programme, announced as an open competition on 8 May 2017.
