Accident statistics for offshore employees have improved annually - except in the galley, where the accident statistics and absenteeism rate have remained unchanged. This prompted the Østensjø Rederi to come up with the idea to develop a new galley.

The major production companies in the oil and gas sector must continually find new ways to make their operations more effective and to increase safety at their installations. That is why ABB launched a design-driven innovation project, aimed at exploring new possibilities in the decision-making process that would increase the effectiveness of the oil and gas installation.

Aiming to become the leading player in bridge design of the future, shipbuilder Ulstein Group ASA entered into a partnership with The Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) and applied for funding from the Design-Driven Innovation Program.
