Little brother is watching you

On track is an add-on you can install in your browser that provides an overview of the data collected on you when online. With the help of a simple dialogue function and intuitive visual interface, you can quickly see the type and quantity of data collected and decide whether or not you are comfortable with this.

Panel remarks

Even though the worldwide web was originally all about freedom, we have never been monitored as much as today. Every visit and every click is registered, catalogued, analysed and systemised to be used against you to sell you things or to get a man-child elected president. Never in his wildest dreams did George Orwell ever imagine that his dystopic vision of Big Brother would not only become reality, but on top of everything else, be created by those under surveillance.

Many are concerned about this development, thus GDPR and other initiatives, which has largely resulted in irritating dialogue boxes and endless check-off possibilities. On track questions this and we are acclaiming and awarding an initiative that simplifies and visualises personal data in a very smart way. We truly hope that this idea will be researched further and can see how On track can be integrated smartly into existing solutions and, at the very least, serve as a voice in the extremely important debate on data sharing and ethics.
