Architecture has always represented the worldviews, cultures, and values of different societies. The design of cities and the materials used in construction may reveal a lot about the demands of the civilization at the time.

World's biggest construction project

Today russia’s horrific war in Ukraine is destroying homes, buildings, and infrastructure that need to be rebuilt quickly and efficiently. Ukraine is indeed going to be the world’s biggest construction project in the nearest future. What architectural problems does Ukraine face today, and what challenges will there be in the near future? What facts about Ukraine should Norwegian architects know before they begin their reconstruction projects? What solutions will be best in the long-term perspective?

An initiative to shed light

To look at these questions and more Norwegian-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce, together with its member Cosmos In and DOGA (Design and Architecture Norway), as well as our Ukrainian partners within design and architecture, has launched an initiative to shed light on rebuilding efforts for Ukraine together with Norwegian private and public sector. During our W/architecture seminar, we will focus on “Build Back Better” aligned with future goals of sustainability and development.
